Testing Q. Should I apply to take the test with the Artificial Language Test or the Spanish Test? A. If you are very fluent in Spanish, you may wish to take the Spanish Test. The word that I am hearing is that some people who consider themselves to be native speakers of Spanish are not doing well on the test. If you speak "Spanglish" or "Tex-Mex" you can try it if you think your Spanish is good enough, but you should be aware that grammar and vocabulary are emphasized. The Artificial Language Test at first glance seems to be intimidating. If you have a good grasp of what a verb is, what a noun is, and how the parts of speech fit together to make a sentence, then you will probably do OK. I understand that it is an open book test, so you can refer to the gender and number endings. Take your time on this test and make sure that you have covered all bases (gender, number, tense, etc.) make yourself a mental checklist to use to check each and every word in a sentence before moving on. Check the ALT helper guide. NOTE: You will almost surely fail this test UNLESS you study for it and prepare yourself. If you are prepared, it will be a breeze. Q. Should I spend the money to buy the commercially available study guide? A. Let me ask YOU a question. How confident are you that you will achieve a good score? How much is that worth to you? Take a look at the web page to see how little the book costs:
